The Senior Pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church -Tacoma is Reverend Willie James Mitchell from Alvaton, Georgia. God called him to preach at the tender age of fifteen, and years later he was ordained as a Minister on October 13, 2003 under the leadership of Pastor Emeritus, Dr. Freeman S. Rhoades. In 2007, Pastor Mitchell obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. He is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity at Faith International University and Seminary.

Pastor Mitchell previously served as an Associate Minister of Bethlehem Baptist Church for twenty years. During this tenure he worked in many capacities including being designated Armor Bearer for the former Pastor, as well as an overseer of Church ministries during his absence. As the Lead Minister for the Youth and Young Adult Ministry of Bethlehem he offered support, mentoring, guidance, specialized training, HBCU tours, recreation and community service activities. The Lord has blessed his calling and he has been able to minister to the masses, as well as

facilitate spiritual and personal growth among the Bethlehem Congregation during weekly Bible Study. He is a charismatic and effective preacher known for his ability to usher in the spirit of God through Praise, Worship, and Song.

 

We believe our Pastor was prepared and was predestined to lead us through a time such as this. He is a Godly Chosen Shepherd with Agape Love for all people, and a devoted heart for the good of the church. His Teaching/Preaching style is one that makes the principles of the Bible easy to understand, and applicable for daily living.
 

Pastor Mitchell has been married to his wife Deshunda for over 20 years. They are the proud parents of four adult children: Jefferey, Kinshasa, Breanna, and Emani. They also have one granddaughter, Ariyah.
